Chinese main operators are China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom.
Last year, China's investment in 5G reached 184.9 billion yuan (about $29 billion), a share of 45.6 percent in fixed-asset investment of the telecommunication industry, up 8.9 percentage points from that of a year ago.
Since the rollout of commercial 5G services in October 2019, the combined number of 5G subscribers of China's top three telecoms has reached 420 million in April 2021. In addition, a total of 819,000 5G base stations have been built by these three telecom giants, accounting for 70% of the world's total.
Meanwhile, Wang Zhiqin, deputy head of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, a government think tank, said China will have built the world's largest and most extensive Standalone 5G network by the end of 2025.
China will make steady and orderly progress toward the establishment of 5G services and gigabit fiber-optic networks in 2022, the ministry noted. The country expects to see the number of 5G users exceed 560 million by 2023, and every 10,000 people in China will enjoy more than 18 5G base stations, stated a guideline released last year.
According to China Broadnet, the price of its 5G packages ranges from 118 yuan to 588 yuan per month. The 118 yuan package includes 40 gigabytes of data and 200 minutes of calling while the 588 yuan includes 98 GB of data and 1,600 minutes of calling. Mobile phone numbers using China Broadnet will begin with the prefix 192.
