I would add that normal heat shrink is not a good replacement for battery heat shrink. Normal hobby heatshrink is quite thick and will prevent the battery from fitting normally in most devices. Heat shrink specifically for batteries is usually much thinner and made of a more "plastic-ey" material than the more rubbery DIY heat shrink.
