This reference design has a maximum output power of 215 Watts and ensures maximum power point tracking for PV panel voltages between 20V to 45V DC.
The inverter is interfaced to the grid via an LCL filter. A relay is used to connect and disconnect the inverter from the grid whenever required by the application. The schematic in Figure 11 shows the filtering and relay schematic section.
At the same time, being equipped with efficient and state of the art communication protocols also indicates “smartness” since the requirement of communication cannot be completely omitted. A “smart inverter” should offer some features such as plug and play, self-awareness, adaptability, autonomy and cooperativeness.
Every algorithm for grid-connected inverter operation is based on the estimation or direct measurement of grid voltage frequency and phase angle. The detection method used in this implementation for a single-phase inverter is based on a synchronous reference frame PLL.
Inverters have assumed that the grid is strong and will provide a stable and clean voltage and that they are able to inject real power into the grid without undue impact on its operation. References is not available for this document. Need Help?
