Zakeri and Syri also report that the most cost-efficient energy storage systems are pumped hydro and compressed air energy systems for bulk energy storage, and flywheels for power quality and frequency regulation applications.
Various operating and maintenance (O&M) as well as capital cost components for energy storage systems need to be estimated in order to analyse the economics of energy storage systems for a given location.
