The BMS continuously monitors battery health and performance, providing real-time data on factors like temperature, voltage, and current. This proactive monitoring enables timely maintenance actions, ensuring the longevity and reliability of the solar power system.
Currently, most of the temperature monitoring and thermal management of power batteries are carried out on the outer surface of the battery, lacking a comprehensive review of internal temperature monitoring and control of power batteries.
Here, both inverters are set to an active power reference of 30 kW and a reactive power reference of 5 kVAR. Note that the initial battery charge levels are set to 80% for the first and 50% for the second battery to allow evaluation of the inverter's capability to disconnect a battery as it approaches its lower SoC limit.
The proposed approach utilizes a droop control strategy to adjust the reference power of the BESS-fed inverter, potentially enhancing the battery's cycle life, state of health, and remaining useful life by managing the SoC [27, 28].
This allowed for simultaneous monitoring of internal temperature and pressure changes in the battery. By adjusting the shape and wavelength of the optical fiber, the changes in the two parameters could be accurately decoupled, thus tracking chemical events within the battery.
